My family is moving, as I've probably mentioned a million times by now, and that means we got to have a garage sale.
It went off pretty good, and the family made a lot of $$$.
I sold all my weights. Didn't really see myself hauling 500-600 pounds anywhere I go.
A guy came by a day early and bought a bunch of the good things, things which I wished had been left for some who didn't act like a ------------. He bought our canoes, came back later, said he bought it for his cousin, and his cousin didn't want them. He gave us his card and told us to tell anyone who came asking about the canoes to go to him. Oh, he also told us not to mention how much he paid for them.
The time he came a day early he tried convincing me to sell my weight set for cheap, and then on the day of the sale he showed. He still thought I was asking for too much.
"You going to make me a deal?"
I told him I'd throw in a weight belt and a couple of pairs of gloves and that would be it. I was NOT coming down on my price. THAT wasn't good enough for him.
I'm happy to say he didn't get one pound of my weights, and I sold all of them.
Here's a picture of my bro and I standing guard over our stuff the night before the garage sale (that was the night I discovered yelling at drunks does absolutely no good for keeping them quiet, but that's another story :)
Have you ever haggled with people at garage sales?

Ha, that's great! How much longer til you move?
What does it mean by Live Traffic Feed? I live in Bucharest, I was kind of curious when I saw Bucharest mentioned on your blog!
I've haggled with people at garage sales more than I'd care to admit, because I'm terrible at it. After about five minutes I give in. Yep, I'm sure some people have more than their $$$ worth at our family garage sales. I also I have to agree with the whole yelling at drunks. Never works!
Araken, my family will be moving about June 1.
Joraiem, Live Traffic Feed just let's get an idea of who's visiting my blog. Hmmm. Where exactly is Bucharest?
You could probably work at a flea market if you tried selling my familie's stuff, Natalie!
Bucharest is in Romania!! Yeah when I was in bed last night I realized what LIVE TRAFFIC FEED meant. And by the way what books have you published, ( I read about it on your profile!!
I think I'll pass on that offer!
Teehee I remember the yardsale before we moved to Germany the first time...CRAZY.
Still waiting to here this drunk story...:P
Thanks for not letting me know you ticked off the drunks before you went inside! I really appreciated that. lol
I haven't published any books yet, but I've written two and I'm awaiting a response from a publisher.
You see, our neighbors have this tendency to drink and party all night. Usually not a big deal.
This night it was.
They were talking all night, and I couldn't get away from them.
Finally I yelled, "Hey! Would y'all keep it down!?"
Either they didn't hear me because of distance, or they were so drunk it didn't matter.
Anyway, I abandoned my brother and went inside. I know. Call me a cutthroat. :)
Left Jared to the wild partyers....wow. That's cold. ::snort::
Yeah, that is cold...even for Jamin...you could've at least left me the bokan!
