At times I find it easy to get obsessed with writing and forget why I started in the first place. I have to stop and ask myself at times, "Why are you putting so much work in such-and-such a project? Are you just wanting to get noticed, or are you wanting to bring glory to God?"
I do my best to keep my priorities straight by doing my quiet time before I sit down to write.
I also listen to God about what He wants to me to do.
I remember one time when I was in a time-crunch to get something done by the deadline. I felt a nagging feeling as though I was obsessing too much and letting my writing become an idol.
"OK, God," I thought, "If you really think that, I'll stop for a day if you want me to."
I didn't want Him to take me up on that offer, but He did. That experience helped me keep my priorities straight, even when I'm screaming busy.
And yes, by the way, I finished the project on time!
Am I the only one who obsesses over things at times?

Certainly not! In the heat of a project, assignment or busy time, I often lose sight of the reason for the rush. Last winter, when my youngest brother came home from Korea and everyone in the house was sick (but me) and I was trying to juggle writing, sick kids, and competition preparation, I really lost sight of everything. I ended up having to take a break for a day as well. Seems to be a good method.
Are you starting the Squire CWG program this year? This is what I'm studying this week for that program. Thank you for your insight.

I'll be starting the Apprentice program and getting college credit for it.
Pray you get Suzie Eller! She's a great mentor.
I had Suzie as my mentor for two years! Now that I'm in the Squire course I have a different mentor.
-Catey
Err, that is, the Apprentice course.

NO you are not the only one to obsess over something that is important....... but we Praise the Lord (PTL)that you realize it and do something about it..... now that is something that many people forget to do.
Good Going!
