Reel Teen Faith is looking for staff writers. It doesn't pay, but it's still a great opportunity to reach a wide audience with your message. I thought of you guys when I received this e-mail from Suzie Eller.
I will be developing a new roster of Real Teen Faith Writers for the next
six months.
I'd love to know if you are interested. All that is required is one devo/lyric/poem/music or book or movie review (your choice) per month.
Everything that is on RTF considers the audience. We have around 3,000 to 4,000 unique hits per month from teens all over the world. Many don't know Christ, so they don't recognize church lingo, but they are spiritually hungry for truth, so we keep our audience in mind when writing content.
The vision for RTF is to show Jesus in a relevant way to teens. : )
If you know of a teen, who is a great writer, who may be
interested, let me know.
If you have been writing and want to step down, let me know. : ) I appreciate SO much what you have done. It truly ministers around the world. Yesterday we had 144 visitors and 244 hits.
One devo ministers to those visitors, but it keeps on ministering because people cruise the site, and read older content. (That's why we had 144 visitors, but an additional 100 hits. They were reading content that related to them -- whether about dating, faith, etc.)
Suzie EllerIf you are interested, Suzie's e-mail is tseller@daretobelieve.org.

I'd love to do that....now what? I'll have to go to the website later today and try to get published at least once there.

What I would suggest is writing something like a devotional or a review. You'll want to include the approximate word count and say you're offering non-excluse rights (which means Suzie has the rights to publish it once and then you're free to pursue publication elsewhere. There are some people who can have the same article printed over 10 times.).
If you're interested in being a staff writer, explain that and the material you give her will be a sample of your work.
Well, I'd love it, but I'm not sure I feel ready. Confidence is important when going into these things...and I'm not sure I have enough right now. Oh well. Don't worry, I'll start my career somewhere though!

If it makes you feel any better, I'm not particularly confident either. Just stab at it and find out what happens.
There are plenty of ups and downs in writing, so don't let that bother you. I went to a conference a little while ago and I had the opportunity to talk to editors face to face about my book. That was an itimidating prospect, considering I hadn't really talked to anyone about it before.
Something an editor said at the conference really stood out to me. She quoted a book which said, "You have to be willing to be really bad at this buisness if you're ever going to be any good."
Just remember Gideon if you don't feel confident.
By the way, what I meant to say in the last post was "non-exclusive rights," not "non-excluse" rights. :p
I have a question. What type of laptop did you buy if you don't mind me asking? (dell, sony, HP ect.) I'm saving up for one and I'm just trying to research what will be the best one.
Thanks!
I bought a Toshiba, and it's worked pretty well. Toshiba was recomended by a friend who works with computers (so he knows what he's talk about, right?).
The people at the store will try at all costs to convince you to buy a warranty. Really, if you're careful, I don't see much reason to spen an additional $150-200.
Thank You! Yea, I see your point. After 2-3 years your on your own anyways even with a warrenty.
