Publishing Opportunitie

I'm always looking for places to publish out there, and I think I found a pretty good spot. MindFlights is online and print magazine that prints fantasy, sci-fi, poetry, interviews, and essays. They also have forums and a good size archive of their work so you can familiarize yourself with their material.

I've already submitted something, and they almost spoon feed the process to you the whole time! It couldn't be easier, though there're a few details that can make you look like an amateur if not done right. They're open to students, and they pay at least $5 and at the most $25. It's a credential for bigger things, however.

Here's what they have to say about themselves.

MindFlights is a magazine for fans of fantasy and science fiction. What you submit to us must be speculative. It can't just be flavored with the speculative. There must be a real speculative element at its core, the big "What if?" that takes us out of the real world and into the astonishing one of imagination. Any speculative subgenre is welcome--space opera, steampunk, urban fantasy, high fantasy, fable, fairy tale, historical fantasy, sword and sorcery, hard science fiction, magical realism, etc-- as long as it offers us something vivid, fresh, and well-crafted, and as long as it is compatible with Christian principles and traditional values.

Their website is linked to the right. Enjoy!

Cool!! Do they have an editor work with you? It's an online serial, right? How awesome! I'm glad you took my advice and looked for good ezines for publishing. It'll give you an edge and help to get your name to start circulating. Not only that, but it's a great motivator, having your work get published!

Awesome, man!

I tagged you on my blog. It's just a silly thing, someone tagged me and I'm just passing it along.

I haven't published any writing of mine yet, although it's something to keep in mind for future writing.

I'll have to try that site - Spoon feeding the process, huh? That would help. I haven't ever actually tried to get published before.

Thanks!

Glad y'all like the site!

Actually, Sapphira, I don't think they really publish books. What I like to do before I start a book is write it first as a short story, though. That tempo you set for yourself is so much faster than what you might be used to. :)
