King of the Reid....self-publishing

I've considered self-publishing for as long as it took me to find out how much it would cost with the self-publisher I was interested in; $20-70,000 or over. Ouch!
One thing caught me off guard when communicating with a press though....instead of writing an innocent 210 page book, it's mushroomed on book format to about 500 pg!
Well, I guess I'm editing about 200-300 words a day, so maybe I can trim it down.
